Unbearably slow with a worth-while message
by Nate (movies profile)
Jan 9, 2005
The worst thing about this movie is that it’s not at all what you might expect. It’s a gentle, thoughtful film, but doesn’t deliver any sort of action. The pace of the movie is unbearably slow and the theme is not as completive as the characters on screen want ti to be. But the idea is great, a gentle story of brave men. I saw “Spring, Summer, Winter, Fall…and Spring” around the same time. The movies attempt to bring the same message, but “Twilight” fails in comparison, both intellectually and in the visual sense. Unlike nearly all Asian films that make it to the US, “Twilight” is a bore aesthetically. If you can stand pure boredom for a few hours, the films message is great. But I think other films of the same genre can bring it to you in a much more enjoyable manner. |
