It seems you either LOVE or HATE the movie STAY.
I found the movie to be intriguing, captivating. It reminded me a little bit of the style of CRASH. This is definitely not a traditional A - B plot and is meant for the viewer to think, question, and sometimes be confused or unsure. The visuals were very interesting. This is the kind of movie that a director wants to "stir up" discussion. If everything was clear cut and easy to understand there would probably be less interest in discussion. If you are a beginning-middle-end plot traditionalist then you will probably not like it. If you like to be mentally challenged you might find it interesting. This is a hard movie to recommend, as much as I really liked it, because it is so different than the main-stream cinema most viewers are interested in. If recomending it, I would let them know how different and perplexing it could be.
Throughout the movie I wasn't really "confused" but constantly questioning the possibilities of what was going on. At one time I thought that Sam had been Henry in the past and was reflecting on his past. Of course, I was WRONG, but it kept me involved with the movie. The acting was excellent, STAY is one movie that since a long time had me so involved and I am one movie goer glad that I STAYED. |
