...Literally & figuratively. This film is an experience more so than it is a story. It is beautifully shot and designed, and contains one of the most disturbing sound effects that I have ever encountered. The plot, however, is not so much a story as it is an event; my inability to let go of the sleuth inside is the reason I had a headache by the end of the film.
If it's possible (it wasn't for me - which means I should probably go back a second time), do not try to "figure it out." Just let the movie wash over you as you take in the visual and auditory feast. As Crash did with plot, Stay does with sensory info: it covers over you. If you can just enjoy the ride, you'll be more than satisfied with the ending.
Most of the acting is very good, but Ewan's a little off here - his accent is astounding, but he just doesn't get stressed out enough externally. Could be a director's call since he's more than capable.
I highly recommend this film: it stands out as a quality piece of art, not just a movie. |
