To all the racist fanatics ...

One of the things this film does do, is show the folly of racist extremist fanatics. It's sad to see so many racists here spewing their hate filled venom towards muslims. War is death and destruction. People do bad things during war. Thats what happens in war. There are good and bad people of every religious faith. There are historical innacuracies on both sides of the story. Do I believe every christian was a despicable villain? No of course not, but I also don't believe that that was what the director was depicting. Of course Saladin's armies were not overwhelming as is depicted in the film. Although the film has some shortcomings, there is an important and redeeming quality of this film. We are all human beings and we should try harder to get along with one another instead of trying to scream at one another on the internet and kill one another. For those racists out there, I know its hard for you to believe, but yes there was a time when muslims were the dominant force on earth and yes they were more advanced than everyone else. They didn't get that way by being vicious barbarians, but by being noble and righteous people. What is truly interesting is that things change with regard to nations and governments. Land, wealth, power, these are all transient things that can drastically change over time, but I think what this movie is trying to show is that yes people are different, but those differences don't have to divide us, if we want to, we can still respect one another and get along with people different from us. To those of you who wish to continue your life filling your dark cold hearts with vicious hatred...yeah you may have your kicks for a while, but as this movie shows in the end you only end up hurting yourselves.
Excellent visuals. Good action. Enjoyable movie overall.
P.S. Which do you think is a better treatment of prisoners/defeated people? Having them brutally raped and murdered OR giving them the option of paying a ransom or taken into slavery? Hmmmm... gee I wonder. |
