A) Saladin was not an "Arab". He was an Aryan, since he was of Kurdish Muslim origin.

B) Secondly, the Crusaders did not graciously give up Jerusalem, the Crusaders were beaten quite *badly* and thoroughly by the Arab forces. (Ridley Scott seems to be confusing this period with the first time the Arabs conquered Jerusalem in the 7th century AD, which was indeed bloodless, since the Christians knew they could not defeat the Muslims, and rather, trusted the Muslims to treat them kindly, which the Muslims honored. But this was several hundred years before the Crusades).

C) Muslims did not have large armies. They relied on tactics and technology. The Crusaders relied on the brute force of numbers, which is how they were able to overcome Jerusalem through a huge deluge or flood of Europeans.

E) Saladin turning to his aide asking how many battles did Muslims win before him, and hearing "very little", is a very fake scene in the movie. Muslims were the masters of Spain and Portugal at this time. They ruled over Sicily for 300+ years. They were dominant in North Africa and Western Asia. So Saladin would not have asked such a question. Ridley Scott is lying.

Ridley Scott should check his facts before he embarasses himself any further.
