I took off work to see this sequel that I've been waiting for FOREVER. I loved it!!! But... it was way too short; 1hr 48mins and that's not nearly enough Bridget and Mark. However, the scenes with Bridget and Mark were so hot they were on fire and I can't wait for the DVD just to play those! No nudity at all, but who needs nudity when Collin Firth comes up behind Bridget when she's text messaging him...just plain LOVELY!
On the down side, it was only about 1/2 of the book and 1/4 added in parts that had nothing to do with the book. some of the added in parts were stupid, like Rebecca, who in the book has an affair with Mark but in the film she's a lesbian. That was ridiculous, and does nothing to explain what she's doing at Mark's house when he's at work. The added in parts I liked alot were the Daniel parts. Her friend Magda is a totally different actress from the 1st film, and alot of the friends parts were not included from the book.
There were alot of parts that seemed straight out of the first one, but I forgive them for that; they were well intentioned efforts at continuity that fell short.
A few parts were just plain ridiculous to watch; neither Mark or Bridget would act like that, like in the end when she comes in all drenched and instead of taking her outside they all just sit there while Bridget makes one of her speeches. But whatever. I can forgive those because the Collin Firth scenes were so gorgeous!
As Roger Ebert says, we need Bridget Jones 3! I don't care if Renee stays slim for a threequel. I just want more! Helen Fielding, get writing! I want to see marriage and kids, and lots more Collin Firth! |
