More Incredible that The Incredibles...
Blows SharkTale out of the water...
it's ROBOTS!!!
I'll admit, I didn't go into this movie expecting such a great film. My hopes were that at least, I ould get a nice evening out of it...
Well, ROBOTS is THE BEST MOVIE I HAVE SEEN THIS YEAR!!
It has a charming plot, funny characters, humor to the max, and to top it off, AMAZING (I cannot emphasis this enough) visuals and music (Yes even the music was great)
The Plot: Young Rodney Copperbottom, a young inventor, goes off to Robot City to work with his idol, Bigweld.
Alas, our young hero realizes (like Mr. Smith before him) that things are not as bright and shiny as they should be at Bigweld Industries. Rachett, an evil corporate climber, has taken the place of the beloved Bigweld, and is seeking to destroy all the outmodes (robots who are outdated) in Robot City. Rondey is thrown out, where he meets Fender and his friends, outmodes who have taken to the streets hunting for new parts. Rodney then takes it upon himself to save the outmodes before they become scrap metal.
If that alone won't make you go to the movie then...
The Characters: Right of the bat, the caracters were hilarious. Ewan is perfect as the wide-eyed Rodney, and Halle Berry is just as great as his love interest. But everyones favorite Robot was Fender, with Robin Williams at his best here. Everytime he comes on the screen you know you are going to start cracking up.
Rachett is perfect as the evil villan, and his mother as the villainess (think macbeth and lady macbeth with these two) and Wonderbot (Rodney's invention) just steals the show everytime he (she?) shows up.
Humor: This is one of the few films I and my friends were laughing nonstop through, right from the first thirty seconds. Admittedly, some of the humor is a little risque. (Rodney once has to wear a torso passed down from his girl cousin) but even without those bits it would still be hilarious!!!
Other: I still cannot emphasis this enough THE VISUALS COMPLETLY BLEW MY MIND!!! When Rodney and Fender go flying around the city in a metal ball I kept thinking wow...that is SO COOL! Robot City alone is amazing to look at, seeming part techno-wonder and part childs-wonderland. The music too is great ( know this is weird to talk about music, but it really was that great) should win best score.
So...WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR??? GO SEE ROBOTS!!! |
