So how can it possibly be a good movie?? Hallmark may have splendid cards, but they make terrible movies.
The story was o.k. but many scenes were not needed. Not that it matters, but they left out a lot of things from the book.
Oh god, the actors. They were ALL HORRIBLE!!! They were trying way too hard with their accents, and they never change tones of voice and everything sounds so flat and boring. I don't think there was one decent actor in this.
But mainly, I have to blame the director. He obviously has no idea what he is doing. Many, if not all, of the actors problems are due to him. He makes them too dramatic or he made one character do an over the top special person. He has a good eye for cintemography, but needs to start working with his crew!! They make a scene where a tornado is in the middle of the day, and then when they reach the house, it is suddenly night. And this brings me to the crappy visual effects.
If you can't make a tornado look real, just leave it out, I didn't even remember that part in the book anyway. There is a scene where a river is flooding and it shows a stick that is like this ____________________________
go to this ________ as if it is sinking. If you don't have the budget, please, don't even bother to make it.
And they rarely changed costumes which was wierd.
Come to think of it, I can't think of one good reason to see this movie except for the cintemography. And, if you do watch it for this purpose, mute and fast-forward so you won't be dulled by this AWFUL movie. |
