I'm just going to go ahead and say it: I truly appreciate Jim Carrey in dramatic roles. Now that that's out of the way, I can talk about how this new movie is pretty much like how fifty percent of Jim Carrey comedies are.
That is, Jim is funny, but the rest of the movie...isn't really. Case in point: "Lemony Snicket," "Cable Guy," "The Grinch" (Some may say "Bruce Almighty" but those people are wrong).
"Dick and Jane" tries too hard to be satirical and doesn't really offer anything new by doing so. Yeah, yeah we all know rich people are the spawn of the devil and BMWs are slowly killing the planet (Yet I'll bet that all the actors involved with this movie are...rich people driving BMWs).
The worst thing of all is that most of the funny parts in the movie are in its theatrical trailer and TV advertisements. I hate when that happens. Someone should make a movie about THAT and call it "How Trailer Makers Ruin Comedies"...it would probably be more entertaining. |
