I adored the first two installments, but this version just lacks a CERTAIN SOMETHING -- glamour, chemistry, cohesiveness. Watchable? Sure. But not memorable.
I have to say that Rachel Weisz' absence is keenly felt. Maria Bello shines in the action sequences, but her acting is subpar overall. Michelle Yeoh and Isabella Liong JUST about make you forget her middling performance.
Yeoh, perhaps feeling her age, has one amazing action sequence with the still impressive Jet-Li, but the others are tame in comparison.
The CGI graphics, sadly, leave much to be desired in this film. From the Yeti to the two opposing armies -- let's just say they're not convincing.
I can't help but think that Ang Lee would've knocked this film out of the park. Shame.
Good fun. Better than Indiana Jones. But there are better summer films out there. |
