There are a lot of whiney reviews for this movie from "hardcore" fans who demanded too much of it. One guy complains that there wasn't enough character development and another says that the characters were shallow and forgetable. I kinda look at this movie like a porno. I didn't expect a lotta character development. I didn't expect this to be a Sci-Fi epic. I expected exactly what I got; a shallow, action-oriented crowd-pleaser. Sure the characters were forgetable; they were just fodder waiting to be killed off. When I watch a 'Friday the 13th' movie, I don't care about the slabs of meat that hang around until they die 'cause that's what they're there to do. Oh well.

One guy complained about them not addressing the fact that Lance Henrikson was there and he was a part of the 'Alien' series. So what. As far as I'm concerned, it was nothing more than an in-joke. Quite yer belly-achin'.

Another complaint was about the sacrificial chamber scene and how the characters immediately became alarmed when the doors started closing and the eggs popped out. Yer tellin' me that wouldn't make you a little jumpy if that was you? I'm sorry, but if I were in a big, old, chamber and the doors slammed shut and a buncha slimey pods showed up outta nowhere, I think I'd be jumpy enough to draw my gun too.

The face-hugger problem I'll give you. It kinda bothered me that aliens were bursting out of people within minutes of being impregnated, but not enough to ruin the whole movie for me.

The next complaint was about the lack of exploration and excavation equipment. What are you talking about? I'm pretty sure I saw this alledgedly missing equipement in a number of scenes. Didn't this guy see the big drills they rolled over to the hole? or the boxes and boxes of equipment they brought down the hole; the lights and the generator. Is it odd that they brought guns? Sure, buy hey, you never know what yer gonna find in an old underground temple in a movie. As one character said, "I'd rather have one and not need it than need it and not have it."

I'll also grnat you that the first two predators were killed off a little too quickly and easily, but for me, it was believeable enough that it didn't bother me. Those two could've been spaced out a little more, but, again, it didn't kill the film for me. I guess I'm just easier to please.

It was also said that the Predators didn't seem to know what was going on and killed for little or no reason. They killed because they're Predators and that's what they do. Get over it.

Some people complained about the alliance between Lex and the remaining Predator. What was the problem there? The Predator saw that she'd killed an alien and gave her a shot at killing some more out of respect for a fellow hunter. He probably also realized that he needed all the help he could get since his friends were both already dead.

One guy complained that we don't care who wins. So? Should I? I just came to see some action and I got that.

Another guy complained that the Aliens were portrayed as mindless killers and compared them to sharks who only do what their DNA compels them to do. So? I understand they were just doing what they were programmed to do, but that doesn't make them any less menacing. The Shark in 'Jaws' was probably just doing the natural thing, too, but it was still violent and scary.

As for the slo-mo danger scene toward the end; sure; that was a little cheesey. Lex running around in Antarctica without so much as a jacket on seemed kinda dumb to me, too. The who thing about the Predators teaching humans to build and having those three cultures al together in Antarcica was pretty lame, too, but, again, none of these were enough to make me hate the movie. Those things plus the PG-13 rating took the movie down a peg or two, but over-all, I still liked it; I still got what I expected. I was at least satisfied with it.

You guys who were expecting a Sci-Fi epic need to wash the sand outta yer cracks and chill out. This was SUPPOSE to be light hearted fun. You want deep characters, read a book.
