Top of the list.. on what drives me nuts about accredited movie critics.

#1- They hardly EVER take a movie for what it is made for.

This is a very well done video game to movie crossover. I think RE and RE:A are THE BEST ever in this category. I will be honest and say that I thought the first movie would be a stinker and hesitated to even rent it (Scared to spend money on another Mortal Combat crapfest). When I did, I was pleasantly surprised. The end all that made the first installment so good, in my eyes, was the ending. I absolutley loved it! Wade through the all the zombies to find yourself in a lab somewhere in a destroyed city. It had me hanging on, not being able to wait to catch the next movie!

Resident Evil: Apocalypse obviously had a bigger budget than the original and it was put to use. The special effects were better than the first and especially well done was the Nemesis creature. Like others have said, the story line really emerses you in the picture. It is a fairly short movie but walking out, you would swear it was over 2 hours. To me, that was a sign of a really fun flick. With an entire city to romp around it, instead of just a lab facility, RE:A had much more potential than the former. As much as I enjoyed the original RE, the sequal surpassed it in almost every aspect.

The zombies were a little lacking. They didnt scare you as much as they did in RE. They were more of a sideshow since they really werent predominant in any character interaction. So it wasnt a bad thing. They were basically there to take a bite out of the non-vital characters and for the main character to display some really nice ass kicking. Well done! The meat and potatos were the main monster, Nemesis and the heads of the all powerfull evil Umbrella Corporation. Milla Jovovich (Alice) really stepped it up in this movie. What a great actress! With the help of new ass-kickin chick, Sienne Guillory (Jill) they absolutley carried this movie from the action hero standpoint. There are the couple dumb one-liners spread out on a couple of occassions, but that was to be expected. Overall, good cast and good villians/monsters.

Looking forward to another Resident Evil (hopefully). Ending to this movie was as well done as the first (wont give that away ). But what made it such a great sequal is its blending very well with the first and is basically a continuation (I love that!) rather than an almost irrelavent seperate movie (like most sequals out today).

.. Oh yeah, and to all the harsh critics.

--- This movie was never meant to win an Oscar. So stop holding it up and tearing it apart as if it was. It is simply a shoot 'em up, kill-kill-kill movie that was VERY well done. Great monsters, a great and identifiable cast, with a broad/lateral storyline that keeps you very interested.. a great movie makes.

If you want to walk out of the theater saying.. "Wow, that was pretty darn good. I really had fun". Go see this flick!
