Like I did in my review of Home Alone 2, I am going to make a list of things that don't make sense in this movie.
1. Why is Kevin STILL 8 years old??
2. When did the parents get divorced?
3. Why is Buzz and the other girl the only siblings of Kevin?
4. Why is Buzz like 12 in this movie, when he was close to 16 or 17 in Home Alone 2??
5. How did Marv, who is sooo stupid, escape and Harry didn't??
I'm not going to focus on the new cast of this movie. This movie's quality was quite poor. THe acting was decent, but the kid sucked. The story did not make sense. If Kevin was 8 in #1 and #4, WOW, SINCE WHEN DOES CHRISTMAS COME TWICE IN A YEAR???!!? The gadgets were cool, but the director did not realize that if Kevin was 8, then this story would that place in 1990!!! Those gadgets would not exist. The booby traps were cheesy and not as good. The twist at the end with Molly was interesting, thus allowing me to give the story a B. The director wanted to make his own movie, then he should not have given it the Home Alone title, change the names of the characters and make the protagonist age-appropriate. I did not find this movie boring... I was just pissed at how the director screwed up the basic facts of the story. I found out that # 3 has nothing to do with Kevin!!! I can't believe it. #1 and 2 were great, #3 brings in another character, and # 4 brings the characters from #1 and 2 back. Damn, that's messed up. If you really want to see this one, ok. Its not that bad... but if you have seen #1 or 2, then have a couple drinks on hand. At least it tried to fit the spirit and warmth of Chris Columbus's classics, even though it made the 1/4 of the journey. |
