Spiderman can step aside, this is the new must see superhero franchise. I can honestly testify everyone who left the midnight showing at my local joint did so with a smile, from its great plot, to outstanding acting by Edward Norton and great action scenes; I was simply blow away on how great this was [and completely trashed the original starring Eric Bana in every possible way]
Story: In the intro credits, scenes that took the Eric Bana version 30 minutes to tell are doled out within seconds, effectively giving the film a electric jolt start which quickly follows the main character who is on the lamb from the US government in South America. I'll not ruin it for anyone, but what better way to have one 'monster' fight another, and unlike the first, he does it not only to save his love interest, but also for the good of mankind [although thats not said, its clear], which makes him a real hero I think.
Acting/Direction: Eric Bana can act, that was clear in Troy, so I'm not sure who to blame for the disaster that was the first take on the Hulk franchise, but this movie simply blows away the original in every way. What was once a awkwardly acted love story and poorly done lines where transformed into believable characters who had real depth. God bless Edward Norton, because he pulled it off folks. Top to bottom just brilliant. And its even got a few funny lines in it that had everyone laughing, but not so many to break the tension or mood of the film [Hello Transformers].
Visuals: A newly designed Hulk looks very realistic, and the redesign looks more human in origins then before. Awesome action packed scenes are sprinkled about in perfect amounts and each one had its memorable moments.
Overall: Simply put, a must see summer movie. This is why you goto the movies, and its something I'm so glad I saw, can't wait for a sequel. |
