Well I use to be a fan back in 1990-1996 but these direct to DVD movies are terrible. I think the worst part is the storylines. They make no sense. Its like someone rushed into it and made it up on the spot. No thought hence NO direction whatsoever. So if you watch this it will not make any sense.
This is a very low budget flick. Segal is fat and as usual has no talent in acting. BUT he does do his martial arts in this one. So its kind of cool to see him get back into the swing of things. Well... The one scene I found hilarious was the barbershop fight scene. Its a joke. The guy he's fighting turns into a monkey and starts to scratch his ears while hopping on the ground and climbing the walls. They use the "wire" technique for this guy (a la Crotching Tiger/Matrix).
The special effects well...there were none. They use the same building and blow it up 3 times in the movie (the same building was also used in The Foreinger) and the house in so called "New Haven, CT" was so fake I was laughing on the floor. The superimposed flames is a joke - the fake film screen when Segal and that other girl was in the jeep was so fake I was laughing.
Rent this if you want to laugh. As with all of Segal's recent offerings. This is a very poorly done movie. I don't know how they could make any profit with this. Its a flop. |
