This film is beautiful in a quiet, understated kind of way. The story is touching, the characters are interesting, the writing is clever, and the acting is flawless. It's not epic, it's not flashy, and it's not political. It's about real life, about hitting rock bottom and then finding the beauty in letting go. I don't know what movie Gillespie and the other pseudo-intellectual self-appointed arbiters of artistic merit saw, but the one I saw was well-made and moving; in fact, it was one of the best I've seen this year. |
