I got to see Elizabethtown when it was at the Toronto Film Festival, so I saw a semi-different version of what is now released in theatres. Either way, this movie was amazingly well done. Crowe wrote and directed the story with the heart that many directors don't have and that shows on film. The roles were cast flawlessly, I was pleasantly surprised with Kirsten Dunst's part. In the past I have never really felt "wow-ed" by Dunst, but in this movie she played her part so well. It was also so nice to see Orlando Bloom act a part out of historical context, he really comes into his own in this movie and received such a great script to work with, plus, he's not too hard on the eyes. Overall I think that the critics have been too hard on the film. Elizabethtown was not made to be amazingly deep and dramatic, it serves its purpose though. A really funny, ironic, romantic movie with one AMAZING soundtrack. I would definitely see it again! |
