Not quite what I was expecting in a movie targeted largely for the teen and pre-teen audience. Much better performances and acting that I expected. My biggest complaint was the band was supposed to be "live" but it had that partridge band studio sound. One just didnt feel like they were actually there at the concert. I kept thinking of the Partridge Family and Brady Bunch shows where they perform live. That was the 70's, surely America expects more than the "one fine day" Brady bunch motiff. Movie is chock full of laughs and even an occasional tear. Grandpa is very funny at times and there are a lot of laughs in the twisted twilight zone awkardness of the mother and daughter. A definite "go-see" as one rarely gets to see such a good movie geared for the audience it was intended for. |
