I saw Freaky Friday on the day of its release, and truthfully it pleasantly surprised me! I am an average teen girl who hates wasting my good money on a ridiculous, predictable and/or bomb of a movie, but this movie was definitely worth my time and cash. At the theater my opinion was shared by everyone, as the room exploded with laughter every few minutes.
Even though quite a few scenes were expected (from the previews), those classic lines were still hilarious on screen. It squanders no time, so that every moment you are ready to laugh. The jokes were all witty and clear-cut sarcasm that everyone will find funny, and I absolutely adored the plot line. The Chinese fortune cookie-earthquake thing was a bit overdone and improbable, but the hilarity of it all overpowered the few foolish, elements.
Mostly females will relate most to the mother-daughter struggle, but everyone can surely enjoy Jamie Lee Curtis in her most casual, comical role yet, and Lindsay Lohan played a pretty good uptight mom. The actresses made the "freaky" transition believable; so much that some scenes seemed very awkward (you'll see!).
Freaky Friday has convinced me that switching bodies with anyone especially my mother, would be a horrific experience that luckily, no one in our reality will have to go through. It will be at the top of my "DVD's TO BUY" list and I can't wait to see it again. |
