For those who didnt see the first one, you can see this and not feel left out. Just ask a friend to give you a 2 minute filler. This is complete on its own. So whats it like you ask. You want effects. GO watch Spider-Man 2 or Day After Tomorrow again. If you like a bit of history thrown in with action and romance, GO watch King Arthur. If you like to be firmly rooted in the present and want a twist of old fashioned super-spy intrigue, selective amnesia and action then GO to the nearest theater and check Mr. Bourne out. It will be worth your time and money. As usual, I'll remain spoiler free.
This was my third most anticipated movie this summer after 'The Village', opening next weekend and 'Day After Tomorrow' - a moderately good movie. Did it live up to its billing. Yes and No. If I disregard the fact that this follows the great Bourne Identity, then sure, this was a good flick. On a scale of 1-10, if the first one was an 8.5, this is a 7.5. Why you ask? Because the first one had two critical elements that the second doesnt have. We were just as mystified by Mr. Bourne's identity as he himself was and secondly there existed genuine sexual tension through the first half of that movie. Both these things are missing and we feel their loss in the overall result. Still, a fun time to be had at the movies. At least until something more mystifying like Shyalaman's 'The Village' or Mann's "Collateral' comes along. |
