I was quite eager to see this movie. From Daredevil, I've been fascinated by the character Elektra. There is a definite difference between her first life and her second. In Daredevil, she was carefree and spontaneous, living every moment to the fullest; in Elektra, she is moody, having nightmarish flashbacks, angry, vengeful and premeditated.

The source of her anger can be attributed to the deaths of her parents, however she still drew great strength from the good memories that she had growing up.

The visual effects were quite amazing, the vivid colors enhanced the mood and effects in every setting, of course we all have seen clips of the red leather outfit.

Her physical prowess in the beginning of the movie was beyond compare, and she was unemotional about who and what she was killing. However, as the movie progressed, her real emotions started coming out, and she started fighting with more of her heart than her head. This was when I thought that her fighting deteriorated. Once she became her calm, detached self, she always did the Elektra thing!

The secondary characters were not fully explored or given enough screen time. The villians, Tatoo, Typhoid, the coin guy, Stone, and the Boss bad guy each had short screen time, and they got killed off pretty easily. I feel the fight scenes should have been much longer.

The fight between good and evil seemed ominous. Whenever the white ninjas showed up, the bad guys stepped down, it was like the white ninjas were actually better than the bad guys and they never had to fight at all.

Jennifer Garner played the perfect tortured Marvel heroine, complete with the troubled past, nightmares, insomnia and cold calculated actions. Noone else could have played Elektra as well as she did.

What was up with the romance between Abby's father and her? That was something that was never going to go anywhere and they both knew it.

In the end, the story ends as all Marvel comics do, with the heroine going to face the bright light of day with a new lease on life, having fought all her personal demons during the night.

I waited 2 years for this movie, and I wasn't disappointed. It lacked great depth but it was a great ass kickin' movie that left you with great 'ready to take control of the world' vibes at the end.
