Great Zombie Film, Solid Film in General.

First off, as most people will tell you going into this movie its best to not even try to associate it with the original Dawn of the Dead and try to look at it in the light of another chapter or subverse of George Romero's classic.
I'm a big fan of the original for its great character studies and comic book feel, but this movie is going to have a place in my heart for giving me what the original only really touched on; we get to see a lot more of the world falling apart here. I love the news footage opening, and its probably the second best opening I've seen in a movie since Se7en. Enough gushing over the opening, the rest of the film is a wild ride of dark and sick humor and some very tense scenes for our survivors in the mall.
I'm not going to spoil anything here for you, this is a movie that needs to be seen to fully get the effect. Go out tonight, take a group of friends or your favorite girl/boy, and enjoy one of the better "remakes" to hit theatres in the past ten years. |
