A great movie, but not exactly "Family Friendly".

Well, i love baseball, and personally i think that Bernie Mac is a great actor/comidian, so this struck me as an almost perfict blend!
I was sorta supprised that the main focus of this movie wasn't all baseball all of the time, but how its not always all about yourself. This movie carries a great moral.
The cussing is one of the two reasons that this movie was pushed up to PG-13. Though the cursing lightens up as the movie progresses, Mac does plenty in the begining, and one of his chinese teammates doesn't know how to "cuss right" which is actually pretty funny. The cursing isn't any think like "f---" more uses of the "s word", "d--n", and "a--", stuff like that. When you read the rating and see sexual content, well its more suggested than actual. There arn't any seens, but Mac refers to his stays with his SC sweetheart in differen't states, (ex. One in Toronto where he is apparently cought with a room full of "groupies.") and Mac often trys to sway her.
Ofcourse, there is baseball, but not as much as you'd expect. Really there is one or two feilding seens, and quite a few seens of the Brewers rising star (Not Mac) who continuesly hits home runs but is self absorbed untill Mac straightens him out, and ofcourse a lot of Mac at bat.
The ending is supprising, infact i almsot started to cry, and yeah im a teenage guy...so yeah it was just that good.
This is NOT a family friendly movie, aka not a movie to bring your 12 yr. old/and down kids too, but teenages and adults, as long as your not easly affended, should find this movie enjoyable.
Conclusion: An overall great movie, even though its not exactly "Family Friendly". If your into baseball, Mac, or just like general comidies, then go and see this, but if your looking for a true, full fleged baseball movie, go to Block Buster and pick up "The Natural", "The Rookie", or another baseball blockbuster, and save yourself a few bucks. |
