This was a baseball movie in the tradition of "Major League;" nothing more, nothing less. It has the usual cliches: the foreign player whose malapropisms are good for a laugh, the superstitious players, the hotshot superstar and the old flame of the protagonist who comes back into the picture. Bernie Mac is probably too good a comic for this movie, but he had a couple of really funny lines.
Realistically, I'd give the movie a B or a B+, but to cancel out all the morons who have given it an F without seeing it, it gets an A+. |
