The most shocking thing about this movie was:
FADE TO BLACK:
Written and Directed by David Mamet.
H-O-L-Y CRAP! I usually like what David Mamet puts out. His stories and dialog are usually clever and entertaining. But this movie, PITIFUL!
I am STUNNED that anyone could possibly give this even a mediocre review. And I've read more than one review that state this flick is for "The intelligent moviegoer..."
Halfway through the movie my wife and I were treating it like a comedy, predicting and acting out the ridiculous dialog and the "intelligent, complex plot". It was laughable.
I did like the premise and it certainly had POTENTIAL to be something for "the intelligent moviegoer", but I'm sorry, they did NOT execute. The story was all over the place, the characters were NOT convincing (Val Kilmer was SO wrong for this role), but most of all, the horrible dialog...the dialog? The dialog. Horrible...the dialog.
The overall flow (or lack of) reminded me of "Ronin", another "intelligent moviegoer" flick that is included in my "Worst Ever" list.
Welcome to list, "Spartan". |
