I've experienced people clapping at movies before, indicating the effectiveness of the story and the ability of the director to "put the audience into the movie", but never have I experienced it to this degree. This movie will make you proud to be an American or wish you were one.
You not only find yourself routing for the U-S-A, you find yourself flinching at every "check" or twitching at every pass or shot-on-goal...you ARE as much a part of the movie experience as the actors who played in the amazing, mostly unknown, cast of actors.
My dad has always had the Sports Illustrated cover of the 1980 USA hockey team celebrating their victory, but now I understand why a Floridian, who never played hockey and has rarely ever had enough interest in hockey to sit through an entire televised NHL game, displays that moment in history on his wall.
If you only see one movie this year, make it this one! |
