It seemed like a good idea

Upon seeing the trailer for this film I thought it would be a great way to sit and laugh away a stressful week.
Twenty minutes into the movie I wondered if I wandered into the wrong theatre.
The story was painfully slow, not funny (unless you think Tom Hanks climbing onto a tree limb to rescue a cat and endless use of the "F" word funny).
I found the charectors uninteresting and woefully stereotypical and had to look for a reason to care about any of them.
Hanks looked like a demented Sherlock Holmes and his mountain of inane verbage was very confusing and just flat out unintresting. Throw in a mind numbing long choir scene in a church and a dizzying first person persepctive through the eyes of a brain dead football player and you have one of the biggest mishmashes to hit the screen in a long time.
I counted five people walk out of the theatre at the 45 minute mark and much as I tried...I could not help but follow suit after another 20 minutes of rambling dialoge and story telling that went in circles and left me asking the person next to me just what the hell the point of this movie was.
Strongest recommendation to avoid. |
