Everyone heard the tales when they were little, ?there?s a monster in my closet,? ??under my bed,? or wherever it would be hiding. You would be in your room, in your bed, alone, in the dark. The light from outside shines in and you see the outline of a monster. You hit the lights, only to find that it was just clothes on your chair.
What if it wasn?t your clothes? What if the boogeyman is real?
Following the formula of such movies as ?Darkness Falls? and ?They? (which were both great movies), ?Boogeyman? follows the story of Tim (Barry Watson), who as a child had a traumatic encounter with the infamous man in the closet.
Many years pass and Tim is an adult. Bringing him back to his hometown, is the death of his mother (Lucy Lawless, yes, that?s right, Xena: Warrior Princess). Following his mother?s death, he must confront the boogeyman himself. He spends one night in his childhood home.
Although, it?s formulaic, like many recent horror movies, ?Boogeyman? serves up many chills and has the potential to be a horror classic. It?s scary and will make you jump out of your skin. Be sure to close your closet door, leave a nightlight on, and check under your bed before you go to sleep after you see this movie. |
