I am a history teacher and I find this movie extremely relevant in today's political and social climate. Dr. Kinsey was certainly ahead of his time and surely pushed the envelope in understanding human physiology and defining morality (whether that was his intent or not). I was struck by the fact that many of the issues the movie brings up are still being debated today, decades later, and less has been resolved then we'd like to believe.
The performances were extremely well done by all cast members and Liam Neeson did an outstanding job playing the obsessive and driven, Dr. Kinsey. I also enjoyed the script and the complex relationships that were well handled.
While "Kinsey" showed modern viewers how our understanding of sexual physiology became introduced to the masses, it also touched on the issue that still plagues society today. The confusion of sex with love and intimacy--the latter two are vuluable yet unquantifiable and cannot be packaged and sold.
I just love movies with a message!! |
