Surprisingly, Stuck On You is not a dumb as you might expect. Sure it was funny and there were some goofy moments as expected, but it turned out to be the first Farrelly movie I can think of that actually had a brain. The one thing that separates this Farrelly film is that the characters manage retain a human element about them. For example, the Dumb and Dumber guys were just self-absorbed screwjobs and possessed almost no indentiable human traits. In this movie, the stuck-together brothers were not oblivious to their handicap and they were, at times, sensitive to it's drawbacks.
Going into this one, I really thought Damon and Kinnear were going to turn out to be a stinker of a combo. I must admit that I was wrong. I am not really a fan of either actor, but even so, I was impressed by their work in this film and felt they were both convincing and believable.
All and all, this was a pretty funny movie that is fueled by above average efforts from Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear. While I thought the closing musical was a poor choice for an ending to the movie, it didn't manage to ruin this fairly enjoyable laugher. |
