I laughed, I cried...

For years I had difficulty liking Nicholson...he seemed to me to be diabolical and evil...but along came "As Good as it Gets" and I became aware of his sense of comedic timing and my opinion changed.

I led a very dysfunctional past and there were many moments when that could have been me up on the screen: womanizer, afraid of intimacy, unable to commit....so there were moments in this screenplay when memories came flooding back....I haven't laughed so hard or wept so profusely in a theater in years.

But the impact was multiplied for me in the character portrayed by Diane Keaton. I got a re-taste of the pain that I had left in my path...and finally my first real love and loss at the age of 45...so perhaps you can understand that the "slices of life" brought to the screen here...left me simply....loving this movie.

Keanu Reeves puts on his first character of real depth which he played convincingly in the triangle.

Neil Simon in his hayday would have written something like this....Nancy Meyers has left Neil in the dust.

I'll buy the DVD and may even see this again in the theater and definitely watch for future Meyers productions.
