Tony Scott does an excellent job directing this film. At first it reminded me of Traffic, then I could see Training Day in it as well.
Denzel is a great actor, and it is a pleasure watching him work.
Man On Fire is like two films in one. The first part has a lot of fun dialogue between Denzel and Dakota, and works to develop the characters and set the stage for whats to come. I gotta say I love Christopher Walken, and always enjoy him playing the Italian type *business* man.
You'll know the scene where the movie switches gears and is the spot seperating what I call movie one and movie two. The transitional scene didnt feel natural to me, but it works. In the second part of the film Denzel is on fire!! Some of it seemed a bit over the top, but then again a lot of reality is over the top. The best thing about Man On Fire is that from the very beginning you know youre watching a well made film, and that goes a long ways, imo.
Kill Bill 2 was good to talk about, Punisher was a fun ride, but Man On Fire is the real deal. I recommend it. |
