***Roger Ebert***: "The screenplay is by Brian Helgeland, whose work on "Mystic River" dealt with revenge in deep, painful personal terms. But this time action formulas take over. The hero outshoots and outsmarts half the bad guys in Mexico City. He seems to be homeless, yet has frequent changes of wardrobe and weaponry, even producing a shoulder-mounted missile launcher when necessary. And as he plows his way through the labyrinth of those responsible for kidnapping the girl, the body count becomes a little ridiculous, and Washington's character, who seemed very human, begins uncomfortably to resemble an invulnerable superhero. Sure, he gets shot now and again, but can you walk around Mexico City as an accused cop-killer and outgun professional killers indefinitely?"

This comment was made by Roger Ebert, whom i thought was a very good critic. But this paragraph shows that hes just like any other critic. Critics sit and watch movies looking/thinking on what to criticize and thats what affects them. Normal movie watchers like me dont look at the bad side until the movie is done and the resolution has been made. This movie had a great effect on me and in all people i know except for a few who just couldnt stand still for a moment and pay attention to what was happening. Roger Ebert has accused of Denzel Washington of being a invulnerable superhero, when in reality the movie makers were attempting the opposite and accomplished their goal. Denzel wanted to give up life until he met Dakota Fanning. He had extensive military experience and when the kidnapping was made he used his skills to take revenge. If u really paid attention to the movie you could observe that he didnt confront many bad guys one on one...he tied most of em up. And he gave up his life for Dakota Fanning which is a great resolution...he didnt try to escape by killing everyone. Roger Ebert I looked up to you until this stupid comment of yours. Next time i would appreciate it if people thought the comments over and really paid attention to the movie before making such comments.
