For true fans of cinematic film noir
(and you know who you are), you're in
for a compelling ride.
The story unfolds in a slower novelistic
pace, but leads up to a satisfying climax,
well-worth the wait.
Mike Hodges is very selective in using the
camera, the lighting and this understated
ensemble cast in evoking one of the moodiest
tails of "time to pay the piper" revenge,
since Steven Soderbergh's THE LIMEY.
"Brilliant", as the Brits would be prone
to say. I have to agree. |
