When one sees a love story, he/she should not rationalize about love but must feel it. Such should be the attitude in seeing THE NOTEBOOK (or in reading the novel). When I saw this movie, I felt in love and when one is in that state, all other imperfections can be forgiven.
In fairness to the heartless critics, this movie had its failings (the elderly couple pushed themselves to become the least credible), but that does not mean that it did not have its own merits. Gosling and McAdams are so natural that one would believe they were really in-love. Basically, the entire movie is about love, and to appreciate it one must feel it and not think it! |
