A journey worth following.

This isn't so much a plotted movie as it is an observation of the actions and reactions of a diverse group of people. There are no stereotypes in this group, made painfully clear by William's attempts to define them. This is Xavier's journey, and his new peers, his Euro pudding, are what he eats at to learn and gain experience where he had no outlet to do so before. We adapt, we borrow, through friendships and hardships we become more aware - that is probably the essential theme of this film. Considering the bloated list of reality programming, take "L'Auberge Espagnole" as a look into the lives of an interesting (but flawed) group of people. Not everything needs a reason, nobody is alike, and it's conflict - both in our lives and within - that bring us closer together. I strongly recommend this, even if you find it nothing more than a slight, quirky situational comedy. And maybe ten years from now, with more travel and diverse friends, you will appreciate the film even more.
