One aspect of Gothika that I found amusing was that you could pinpoint with almost exact precision each time Miranda was going to come face first with the ghost of Rachel Parsons...but every single time, it scared the crap out of you anyway! I remember sitting in the theatre going "Oh, music says she's coming." Then the girl shows up and I'm jumping out of my chair. Some of Gothika is cheesy ("If you are the ghost of Rachel Parsons, you'll let me out of this cell." Unlock. Well, sh*t, why didn't you ask the b*tch for the lottery numbers while you were at it?), but overall I thought the film was rather creative and it definately kept me and the rest of the moviegoers seeing this on opening night with me on the edge of their seats. Forget the critics...half of them can't even see the movie from behind their extra extra extra large popcorn tubs. Gothika is plenty of good, scary fun. |
