I know that my rating is different than most, but I thought this was really a pretty bad movie.
I thought that, for the most part, the acting was good. There were many characters that were pretty weak. I won't add and spoilers here, but it isn't too hard to figure out who did what.
I think one of things I liked least about this movie were all of the holes in the plot. There were just some things that didn't make sense. Again, I don't want to add any spoilers, but they just seemed to ignore some pretty important plot elements. I am pretty good at suspension of belief, but I just couldn't suspend my belief long enough to ignore the complete incoherance of the plot.
I thought there were some pretty scary images, and I definately jumped a few times, but overall the "scary" part of this movie were the images and not the plot. Take the Exorcist, for example. The images were terrifying, and the concept of possession as it was presented in the film was terrifying. This simply lacked a coherant enough story line to really stick with you. I found that a scene in the movie would make me tense and jumpy, and then the very next scene would leave me thinking "where did that come from and what does it have to do with anything?"
Overall, I thought it was a poor movie, but might make for a good video night, if your expectations aren't too high. |
