Few things keep it from falling flat

Unfortunately, like many other gay-themed movies I've seen, this lacked credibility, particularly between the two main characters in the present-day portions. I often felt like I was watching an infomercial or a low budget reenactment in a documentary. Monotonous acting and directing with recycled jokes/bits made this doomed to fall flat. The plot twists came across as attempts to rescue the story from being a carbon copy of previous sit-com or made-for TV. movie plots.
However, a few things keep it from being tossed into the pile of marginal gay-themed movies. The flashback sequences are exquisite. Outstanding acting/characters created by Tori Spelling & Steve Sandvoss are worth the time to watch the rest of the film. |
