I read all these reviews about "April" and can't understand why they're so harsh. Some of these reviewers seem like got a personal beef with the flick. Relax!! This is certainly not the "worst movie ever made". There are far too many flicks that actually fulfill that characterization.
Anyway, "Pieces" has a very solid story. A black sheep daughter (April) tries to prepare a Thanksgiving meal for her dying of cancer mother and the rest of the family. True to Murphy's Law, April's oven doesn't work. While trying to find a neighbor's oven to use, we see the sometimes difficult interactions she has with her co-tenets. In the meantime, April's family are having quite the experience er route to April's apartment. The acting is decent. The direction is adequate enough to convey the message. It's a story about what else- love, of course. In addition, it's also about the imperfections of family that we all can relate to.
"Pieces of April" is well written and well executed. It's a simple movie with a universal message. Definately, worthy of more than a jaded "F". |
