I LOVED THIS MOVIE! Both families were extremely hilarious. You had the Indian family that only wished Jess would learn to be a proper wife and an English family that only wished their daughter was not a lesbian. It was very entertaining. The friendship between Jules and Jess was very real and the story is very real. Many Indian families are still live tradional lifestyles and finding All-Girl soccer teams in England is very uncommon. Not only was this about soccer but also about real things occuring in teen's lives these days. Having guyfriends that are actually gay, parents worried if their tomboyish daughter is a lesbian and wanting to look out for their teen's future. Ofcourse for teenage girls there is always eye candy: The Indian boys Jess plays soccer with and her coach himself with that sexy Irish-English accent. For boys there are many scenes of girls changing in the locker room before and after soccer games. David Beckham does make a few appearances in the movie but has no dialogue. Mia Hamm also makes an appearance through a video Jules shows Jess about Pro Women Soccer in america. The soccer games in this movie are very believable and very real. I felt as if I was there and almost wanted to stand up in my seat and cheer for Jess's team. This is a very "girl power" movie but I think everyone in the family will enjoy it because of the clash of culture. I enjoyed it and wish to buy it when it is out in DVD. |
