You have to understand what this movie is about. I would bet a nickel most people giving this movie a bad rating is either old or went in thinking this was some dance movie with lot's of skin.
I am old for the record, but I had enough sense to find out what I was getting into BEFORE seeing the movie. So here goes...
This movie is NOT Matrix Reloaded. Or Matrix Revolutions, It is not finding Nemo, or ET or any of the Star Wars. It's not Alien or Alien Vs. Predator (coming soon in case you don't know).
This movie is about a couple of flunkies who have a dream of being professional skateboarders. And a heart big enough to follow that dream. In their mis adventures, they run out of money, their van gets stolen among other issues they deal with.
You might also see this movie as the story of these kids making it into a movie. More likely their real dreams rather than being skaters.
The label carries a warning for crude humor. Heed this warning! There is some really crude stuff, but it is flat out funny as hell.
If not for anything else, you will leave having a good laugh. Catch the early showing and see it for $6 instead of $8, you will even feel better after the movie.
But here is why I really like the movie. The talent. Watch these kids. There is future major talent being shown here. Saturday night live maybe? Or more films to come? I see a young Rob Lowe and a young John Blushi here. Maybe I am wrong, that's why I write reviews on Yahoo and not for money. Critics are a fraud. I just do the best to let people know if I like a movie or not, no politics involved. |
