More entertaining than a pool hall

The mere fact that this movie entertained me despite being almost entirely set in a pool hall warrants at least a certain measure of praise. Was it great? No. Was it entertaining? Yes. This movie has found it's home amidst the many other niche cult films. The lead actor (Mars Callahan) deserves some credit for bringing new life to an otherwise tired story. He can be magoo at times, but overall does a pretty decent job. The supporting cast, though I truly wish we could have had more of Walken - he just steals so many scenes - move the story along, even if most of the performances are somewhat forgettable. The bottom line here is that this movie is unique in a way that makes unknown movies intriguing. It's worth a watch the next time you are pining over what to rent that you haven't already seen.
