ACP is a harmless romantic comedy that just misses something. It's not as bold with humor as, say, Stiller's "TSAM". Aniston's character is supposed to be totally spontaneous and free-wheeling (the opposite of Stiller), and the worst she does is Salsa dance?. Seymour-Hoffman plays the slob friend well, but is that a stretch?
Good first date movie, as it won't offend anyone-and women will just love looking at Simpson's all-voice Hank Azaria strolling around in the buff with his 6 pack abs, but the movie is neither totally funny nor touching like a High Fidelity or Annie Hall. |
