Well, it's about time they made a movie about these two. I liked this movie because it incorporated many of all the Grimm's stories without overdonig it. For example the only thing from snow white was the apple, which was hardly there. Mostly it's a little bit of sleeping beauty here and a bit of repunzel there but thats it.
The story line is well done because it brings forth many genres in film making, such as action, romance, horror and fantasy. It's also good because it does'nt dwell on fantasy alone, for examle it still shows the ignorance and fear that people have about things they don't understand. I won't comment to much on the story line because i don't want to give anything away. The only thing that was not so good about the story line is that you can probably figure out what is going to happen before the movie acually ends.
The acting done by Heath Ledger, who plays Jacob Grimm and Matt Damon, who plays Willam Grimm was very good. I have seen many Heath Ledger movies before but in this movie he is truly different. Instead of being a knight in shinning armour or a sin eating priest, he is a meek, foolish and sometimes irrational character. His look is also very different from any other movie because he does'nt have thoses long golden locks he usually does, instead he has an almost shaved head and thick glasses. Non the less his acting is just as good as ever. Unlike Heath i have not seen many Matt Damon movies mainly because i am not to fond of him, but this was not like any other movie he has done so maybe i was wrong about him. Unlike Heath's character Matt is more rational, charming and stronger. Just like Heath, Matt too changed his look very much, instead of his usually short dark hair he has the golden locks. Unlike the other two, the primary female actress, Lena Headly plays Angelica, love intrest to both the Grimm brothers and is someone i am not to familiar with. When i first saw her on the previews i thought she was Keira Knightley but do not be fooled because she is not. I don't find any thing wrong with them to comment on.
The directing of this movie was very done because it keeps you exitied and does'nt bore you out. Terry Giliam and his crew did a fantastic job of bringing this story to life and like all great directors keeps you wanting more.
Aww.. the visuals, the most important part of this movie. Well like most movies it was not perfect but definetly well done. From everything to the buring forest, moving trees and the big bad wolf (concidering that even most werewolf movies don't have that kind of visuals!). The only bad part was that you could tell when some of it was fake. For example, when Will and Jacob are fighting in the air you could tell it was fake. Other than that the visuals were very very well done.
Overall it is a movie that is for everyone, exept for small children who maybe frightened by its violence and horror.
