ok. i hate to criticize movies, especially when they are on my favorite books. I have been a REALLY BIG FAN of the A Series of Unfortunate Events books since 1999 when the first few books were released. I curently own all eleven books and CAN'T WAIT till the twelfth book comes out. But ok, about the movie. This was a good movie, but if you are a fan of the books.... Don't get me wrong, It WAS a good movie, but it just changed too much, in my opinion. The story in the movie was out of context, mixed everything up, an threw it at you. To people that have read the books and have seen the movie, i'm sure you can relate. As for the scene in the movie of "The Marvelous Marrige." If you've read the books, you know that at the end of the first book Count Olaf attempts to marry Violet, and then once everyone finds out it was a conspiracy the children are sent to Uncle Monty. Uncle Monty was later killed by Count Olaf in disguise by being injected under the eye with venom. Afterwards, the children are sent to Aunt Josephine, who is also killed by leeches, and that is how the end of the third book ends. In the movies, however, the attempted marriage between Violet and Count Olaf occurs after Aunt Josephine is left to die. Also, the movie never shows how exactly Uncle Monty dies, and Mr. Poe never finds out that "Stephano" was actually Count Olaf in disguise. Another thing that occured in the movie is that during the orphans stay with Count Olaf in "The Bad Beginning" portion of the film, is that Count Olaf attempts to kill the Baudelaire children by locking them inside a car and parking it on the train tracks. I hate to go on, but i was dissapointed by this movie. I have only one fortunate thing to say, however, and it is about V.F.D. in this movie. In the film, the Baudelaire children find out about how Count Olaf started the fire that burned down the house, which, in the books, you don't find out about till the 9th, 10th, and11th. The movie was a bit ahead if itself, but you do find out a lot of information about thed Volunteer Fire Department (the VFD club) and their enemies (Count Olaf and his crew). If you have made it this far into my review, WOW, and thanks for bothering to read it. If you have anything to tell me, maybe a complain or something you would just like to share with me, please feel free to e-mail me at peacehasended @ yahoo ****.com Well thank you for reading my review! till next time!
