this movie was perfectly done. they didn't try to rewrite the books, add in stupid humor, or dumb it down for younger audiences. they had to cut come of the plot lines, but that was entirely necessary and i found i didn't really miss it. they added a lot of information that might be found in later books, but i thought that was an excellent decision because it sets the stage for the mysteries that are more prominent in the other books.
the acting was excellent. violet, klaus, and even sunny baudelaire were amazing, and played their parts as if the characters had simply walked out of lemony snicket's pages. jim carry was really brilliant, which surprised me, because i was slightly worried that he might ruin it, but not at all.
i left the movie feeling extremely pleased to have finally seen a movie conversion of books i love that does the books justice, and waiting for the next movie with a smile on my face. |
