From a parent and kids perspective

From a parents perspective this was a descent, fun and enjoyable movie. I have not seen 3D in the theatre since JAWS 3 and that was a disappointment (from a 3D perspective). this movie from a 3D perspective was great, no other movie close to it, but with 3D you don't get full vibrant colors and your eyes may start to hurt a little. You will have fun with your kids at this movie and would recommend a matinee only because from a parents perspective I would not pay full price to see this movie. If you are going to pay full price go see Finding Nemo, which I am sure most of the people reading this and thinking of taking their kids to the movies already have seen it. I am sure when this movie is released on DVD it will be 2 disc set (one normal version and one 3D version that you can watch at home). When you go don't think it will be an in depth story to keep the grown ups interested. It is just a fast paced 3D adventure designed to entice and thrill the ages of 15 and under. From the perspective of your children I am sure they will love it and the 3D affects within the movie are great. The movie never seems to stop or pause for too long before your back into the action again. It will probably be a close call on this movie coming out on top at the box office for the opening weekend because good kids movies are an american past time for the family. This is not the best family or kids movie of the summer. I personally have that spot reserved for Finding Nemo but it is nice to finally see that they have made a drastic improvement on 3D in the theatres. From a critics perspective you could tear this movie apart and say "3D sucks" which it does only because you don't get full vibrant color from the movie. But you have to understand it is nice to take your kids to go see a movie in 3D because in their minds it will be an unforgettable experience. Also the plot line was very thin and it seemed that the screenwriters might have been very low budget considering the expense of all the cameos from other big actors in the movie and the graphic design of the film. I will have to say that i really enjoyed Sylvester Stallone and his schizophrenic character, it will really make you laugh. The thing i found odd was that everyone else in the movie except for Juni had very little screen time, including his sister and it seemed like the film was almost rushed to be finished within a certain time frame. If they had only taken more time to develop the films story and included everyone else with more time on screen then this movie would have been a long laster at the box office. I think you will see a sharp decline with this film after the opening weekend. In conclusion the kids will love this movie and you will get kudos as parents for taking them and it will be enjoyable for you to see as well. The 3D special effects are better than any other cinema film to date, but not quite as good as IMAX or the 3D thrill rides at amusement parks. The only thing is don't expect a great plot or acting to come out of this film and just enjoy it for what it is a kids action adventure 3D movie. I definitely recommend a matinee for this film. |
