It is a moving story .While it is depicting the sad life style of a beautiful young American girl it divulges the hard and sad life of Persian immigrants after the the revolution in Iran in USA.It shows how some respectable families had to fleet their homeland to save their lives after the Islamic revolution.
It is a good and just example of many people living out of Iran, yet; the movie has some short comings. The events taking place so suddenly that it is sometimes hard to believe they are true for example, the policeman fell in love with Jenifer so suddenly that his walking out of his family was not sensible and justifiable .On the other hand , Behrani was working very had day and night as a worker and I still do not understand as to how he could afford that expensive life style .Moreover, the picture that they show of persian women is unreal and poor .Actually, Persian women were like this ,so passive, hundred years ago not after Reza Shah .They are working hard and taking part in social activities .
Finally, despite the above mentioned pitfalls as an Iranian I am very happy to see that Americans have finally understood that we are not terrorists one good example was the ending part of the movie that Behrani decided to put an end to his life instead of living and taking revenge like most other American movies and in another part his family was looking after Jenifer like a daughter. I strongly support any movie that shows the real picture of Iranian people and their culture. |
