I GIVE THIS A STANDING OVATION
by Sharon (movies profile)

Applause for the real Dr. Peeno, a very very courageous woman, and kudos for Laura Dern & everyone responsible for this wonderful film. It is a powerful message about Health Care. A Plus, Plus, Plus. Very inspirational & motivational.
Shows one person can make a difference; and how a conflict of interest will make things go bad; and is evidence why Health care must remain accountable.
I like the title - "Damaged Care" - being a 'play' on "Managed Care". I really liked the (very moral) head nurse - who consistently spoke her mind - then packed her things & left - rather than stay & profit from being part of an unethical organization - which would refuse necessary proceedures to any patient. If everyone in every one of these organizations would do the same.....
I also greatly admire & want to emulate the nun (played by Dianne Ladd, who is Laura Dern's real mother). She provided calming words of support, which acted as wind beneath Dr. Peeno's wings - to help Dr. Peeno soar.
I looked up the real Dr. Peeno and quote her ... "managed care companies need to be held legally accountable for the results of their policies & decisions. This is an essential part of any meaningful patient bill of rights." Essential. Yes.
This is a film to add to my library - so I can watch it whenever I aspire to "use my voice" - or to lend out to others who may be inspired to use their voice. |
